Kwasi Torpey, PhD, MPH

WashU’s International Center for Child Health and Development (iCHAD) is hosting Kwasi Torpey, PhD, MPH, professor of family health and dean of the University of Ghana’s School of Public Health as a featured speaker.

Kwasi Torpey has over 26 years' experience as a physician, scientist, researcher, program director and trainer. He is a Professor of Family Health and Dean of the University of Ghana's School of Public Health and serves as the Scientific Chair of International Conference on HIV Treatment, Pathogenesis, and Prevention Research in Resource-limited Settings (INTEREST); the first African to serve in that role. Torpey's work has focused largely on infectious diseases particularly HIV, TB, hepatitis and more recently COVID 19. Non-communicable diseases, reproductive health and health systems are also key areas of his research.

The ICHAD Speaker Series is a platform for faculty and other experts to discuss their research on current global and societal economic and health issues. The goal is to bring together expert researchers whose presentations foster learning and inspiration for future generations of researchers and practitioners whose work contributes to the reduction of poverty and improvement of developmental and public health outcomes for children, adolescents, and families in low-resource communities.
