HSSU STL DOH Midwest D-CFAR Internship Program
As part of our efforts to connect academic knowledge with real-world public health programs, the Midwest D-CFAR has developed an undergraduate research program with Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) students and the St. Louis Department of Health (STL DOH). The goal of the HSSU STL DOH Midwest D-CFAR internship program is to cultivate a diverse, future workforce equipped to tackle the HIV epidemic while supporting HSSU's educational mission in the sciences.
Expectations and Responsibilities
Interns will commit to 20 hours per week exploring the epidemiological dynamics of HIV in St. Louis, conducting data analysis and formulating public health policies. They will also participate in seminars on the core principles of HIV prevention and management and will receive professional development and leadership training and mentorship from public health professionals and researchers from the DOH, WashU, SLU, and HSSU. A one year commitment is preferred, but flexible options are available. Interns will receive a stipend of $4500 per semester.
We are currently accepting applications for 2025 interns. All HSSU students interested in HIV research and public health are eligible to apply.
